IT&E has always been a pioneer in telecommunications for our island. Many residents know that IT&E has long provided Guam with the best long distance, fastest internet, modern cellphone networks and handsets. In fact, there's really not a whole lot that IT&E has not done other than perhaps, television. Until now. Well, sort of. You see, in today's modern digital world, almost anything you find on the plain-old television set, can be sourced and streamed on the internet. The problem for most residents however are the slow connections (or bandwidth), in which they receive their content for their respective devices. What's a device? Devices in today's world not only include the desktop or laptop computer (PC or Mac), but adding to that growing list of internet-ready gadgets are game consoles like the Xbox, PlayStation or Wii, tablets such as the ubiquitous iPad or Amazon's Kindle and Fire, smartphones like the Blackberry, Android or iPhone, and even the iPod touch still remains a popular device. Even new television sets are now becoming so-called internet ready devices right out of the box! Emerging products such as Apple TV and Roku are content streaming devices that allow you to access a world worth of entertainment options that your cable or digital TV provider simply cannot offer you affordably. These streaming set-top boxes are smaller than what you would normally find with a cable provider. Apple TV and Roku provide movie rental and purchasing, television shows and a whole world of paid and free content all at a touch of your fingers. But I digress. Let's get back to the topic of speed! IT&E's new 4G LTE service promises to change not only the speed in which you access the internet, but the speed in which you have access to it in the first place. 4G LTE for the home, allows any user of the device to simply plug and play in seconds. The 4G LTE device, provides owners with almost immediate access to broadband speeds starting from 3.0 mbps — over the company's solid 4G LTE network (a first for Guam). What does this mean for you? Well, it changes everything. You can literally take the device to any power outlet, connect and be connected to the internet via IT&E's 4G LTE wireless network in mere seconds. Did you read that? You can take it ANYWHERE on the island where there's a power source, plug it and get internet connections almost instantly. As an added feature, the 4G LTE device also allows for any standard phone to plug-into it — and voila, it doubles as a phone so you can make and receive calls on your number wherever you place or take the device. Now that's neat. The 4G LTE device also improves another speed factor for internet users which is the long waiting period that residents must undergo to get an internet service installed in their home or apartment. Some internet service providers (ISP) take as long as 3-weeks or more to connect you to the internet due to lengthy and messy wiring installation procedures. Couple the long waiting period, with expensive deposits and installations fees and well, it's enough to make anyone reconsider their options. Imagine the possibilities of using the 4G LTE device! Take it to your friend or relatives house, where the internet speed isn't so good. Purchase a battery pack and have internet access for all your devices at the park, beach, inside your car — really wherever your imagination allows. By the way, the speeds you get on IT&E's 4G LTE network will blow your socks off. You get at a minimum 3.0 mbps wirelessly and this speed can be throttled up (at additional cost) if you want more bandwidth. Recently, we tried maxing-out the network at an impromptu party and asked everyone (about 10 people) to get onto the 4G LTE device via its built-in WIFI connection. Not one complaint or dropped connection. When the group decided to move to a different location, we just unplugged the device, packed it into a bag and went to the next location and fired it up again — amazingly simple. Obviously I can go on and on about this great product, but the best way to experience it is to try it yourself. Visit your nearest IT&E store and ask to demo the super fast connection. |
